US soccer team

I was amazed last night when I watched the US mens national team play Costa Rica. They decided to play a 4-4-3, which I couldn't believe. They played Dempsey top right, Donovan top middle, and Altidore top left. Altidore and Donovan were not shockers, but putting Dempsey up top was. He is a good player, but needs to be in the midfield. He looked out of place, just like most of the team. They played very sloppy and it looked like a JV team playing varsity.

I understand that the US had some injuries, but the way they played was uncalled for. Beasley for instances, either needs to play midfield or not play at all. This defense experiment that Bradley is trying is not working out. Beasley is still playing like he is a midfielder, moving up the field and playing in the offensive zone. He s good for the team in the offensive zone, but if you are playing defense don't push so much. If they keep doing this it will continue to hurt the US.

I think the way the US team is made up they should run a 4-5-2. They don't have the players to run anything else. The defense is not strong enough to not have the extra guy coming back on defense.

I see this as the US best line-up in a 4-5-3. Right back- Steve Cherundolo, Right center back- Oguchi Onyewu, Left center back- Carlos Bocanegra, Left back- Frankie Hejduk, Right midfield- Clint Dempsey, Right center midfield- Michael Bradley, Left center midfield- Landon Donovan, Left midfield- DeMcarcus Beasley, Right forward- Jozy Altidore, and Left forward- Brian Ching.

That line-up gives the US the best chance to win. I know that Ching, Hejduk and Cherundolo are hurt, but when you have 2 of your of your top 4 defenders out you don't go to a 4-4-3. The US can replace these guys and even run a 5-5-1 in the meantime until they comeback. I just think Bradley needs to worry more about taking care of the defense then adding more to the offense. He has done good so far in his career, but he needs to do better Saturday.
